The Suntory Kakubin was created in 1937 by Shinjiro Torii, the founder of the prestigious distillery. Its unofficial nickname "Kakubin" is derived from the distinctive design of its square bottle, whose relief resembles a tortoise shell. This exquisite blend, with 40% ABV, is composed of whiskies from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, matured in bourbon barrels.

Its golden amber color delights the eye. Facets of grain and honey permeate the nose. They prepare the palate for the flavors of peppercorns, honey, citrus peel, and cinnamon. The honey and pepper notes persist until the solid finish, where they gently fade away.
This whisky tastes delicious both neat and in cocktails such as the popular Highball in Japan (mixed with ice, soda, and optionally a splash of lemon juice).
