Kurayoshi is not only a well-known name for the distillery's whiskies but also a city in Tottori Prefecture. Nearby lies the extinct volcano Daisen, whose ash is still used for water filtration today. This process imparts a very smooth and creamy taste to the popular Kurayoshi whiskies. They are bottled at more than 40% ABV and undergo extended maturation in oak casks before being blended with Japanese water.
