Founded in 1881, this distillery is located on the Scottish Isle of Islay. Until 1994, the distillery exclusively used unpeated malt, setting it apart significantly from other distilleries on Islay.

Since its reopening in 2001, both peated and unpeated variations are produced at the Bruichladdich Distillery.
The distillery is known for its experimentation, producing the triple-distilled Trestarig, the quadruple-distilled X4, and the legendary Octomore series.
