For several decades and until 1992, Jim Beam filled a portion of its bourbons into imaginatively designed decanters, which quickly became popular gift and collector's items. The decanter featuring the likeness of the famous ventriloquist's dummy Charlie McCarthy was produced in 1976. Assuming it was filled in that year or the following, 1969 emerges as the latest possible distillation year.

In the glass, the typical sweet aromas of honey, vanilla, a hint of milk chocolate, as well as berry tones and floral notes unfold. Soft and smooth, the sweetness lingers in the mouth. Once again, red berries can be tasted, accompanied by a peppery spiciness that persists in the lingering finish alongside vanilla, honey, and raspberry notes. Adding a few drops of water brings out the characteristic sweetness of the 100-month-old bourbon more prominently and softens the sharp taste.
