It originated from the business partnership between the A. Ph. Stitzel Distillery and the logistics company W. L. Weller & Sons. The collaboration led to the formation of the Stitzel-Weller name. Until 1972, the distillery produced whiskys for various brands, including W. L. Weller, Pappy Van Winkle, Weller's Cabin Still, and many more. The distillery takes particular pride in its wheated bourbons, where high-quality wheat replaces the rye in the mash bill.
