In the 1960s, it was one of the most popular bourbons in the USA. After changing ownership multiple times and temporarily disappearing from the market, it is now 50% owned by the spirits and beverage conglomerate Luxco.
The distillation takes place at the Limestone Branch Distillery in Kentucky. The operators, Steve and Paul Beam, are seventh-generation distillers and descendants of the original Yellowstone producer, Joseph Washington Dant.
They aim to revive the past success with the original recipe and, under the Yellowstone brand, create unique Small Batch whiskeys following the traditional Kentucky bourbon tradition.
