The Scottish malt whisky distillery Kininvie was founded in 1990, making it one of the younger distilleries in Scotland.

It is located on the grounds of the Balvenie Distillery in the Speyside region and is part of the William Grant & Sons company.
An interesting innovation is that Kininvie does not produce its own mash but receives it through pipelines from Balvenie.
The pot stills used by Kininvie are very different in shape and design. The reflux balls and the varying heights of the copper pot stills influence the taste and character of the whiskies; their shape determines whether the whisky will be bold or light after distillation.
