The success story began in 1795 when Jacob Beam first distilled whiskey. This spirit later became known as Jim Beam, evolving into the world's best-selling bourbon whiskey. The family-operated James B. Beam Distilling Company was established in the mid-1930s. In 1945, the production facility passed to Harry Blum, who sold it to American Brands Inc. in the late 1960s. Several changes in name and ownership occurred until 2011. In 2014, Jim Beam was acquired by the Japanese producer Suntory, and since then, the company has been known as Beam Suntory. The corporate headquarters are located in the metropolis of Chicago. Today, Beam Suntory ranks as the world's third-largest alcoholic beverage manufacturer. In addition to bourbon, they produce Irish and Scotch whiskey, as well as Japanese and Canadian whiskey. The diverse portfolio includes blends, Rye whiskeys, and other spirits such as Tequila, Rum, and Vodka, just to name a few.
