Highland Queen was introduced in 1893 by the Scottish beverage conglomerate Macdonald & Muir, based in the coastal town of Leith. As a visionary entrepreneur, Roderick Macdonald secured the survival of his brand during Prohibition by acquiring the Glenmorangie Distillery. Macdonald & Muir evolved into the Glenmorangie Company. In 2008, the Highland Queen brand was acquired by Picard Vins et Spiriteux. Since then, the whiskies of the brand have been produced by Terroirs Distillers in the Tullibardine Distillery in the Scottish Highlands.
