In 1798, the first whisky was distilled in Kirkwall, back then it was still unaged or "black." The present-day distillery was established in 1825.
The distillery still malts its own barley in its traditional malting floors.
The water used in production is sourced from an old quarry named Cattie Maggie's Quarry.
Highland Park whiskies are known for their slightly sweet notes of heather, honey, sea breeze, and peat. The distillery is one of the most well-known and visited attractions on the Orkney Islands.
