He created the quintessentially English gin, which became one of the first gins in the premium segment. As the distillery in England was destroyed during World War II, production was relocated to Scotland. Only one still survived and remains in use to this day. Most of the production takes place in Cameronbridge. Tanqueray was one of the first distilleries to employ double distillation. Nowadays, quadruple distillation is used to give the exquisite gin that special touch. Today, Tanqueray is part of the multinational spirits conglomerate Diageo.
