The company has a history spanning several decades. In 1991, the then CEO of Seagram's, Harold J. Currie, laid the foundation for the new production facility. It was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1997. The distillers commenced the production of finest whiskies as early as June 1995. In 2019, an outpost named Lagg Distillery was added. To differentiate between the two locations, a name change was implemented. Since then, the original distillery bears the name Lochranza.
