The Wild Turkey Forgiven whiskey owes its origin to a mistake: the distillery team at Wild Turkey accidentally mixed one of their high-proof rye whiskies with bourbon.
Master Distiller Eddie Russell liked the blend and told them that everything was forgiven. Due to high demand, new batches were produced in the years 2013 - 2014. Forgiven is composed of 78% 6-year-old bourbons and 22% 4-year-old ryes, aged in heavily charred oak barrels.

On the nose, bourbon dominates with caramel and dessert notes before the rye spice. This is followed by hints of citrus fruits, vanilla, cherries, ripe orchard fruits, and cinnamon. On the palate, rye spice, some caramel, orange peel, cinnamon, pepper, leather, chocolate, a touch of melon, and an overall nutty overtone can be discerned.
It finishes with a long, dry finish, starting with notes of rye spice and oak before fading into caramel syrup.
This blend, at 45.5% ABV, is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks.
