Wattie Boone 7 yo Small Batch

A tribute to the first bourbon distiller of Kentucky

47.4 %vol. / 0.75 lt

Wattie Boone was documented as the first person to produce bourbon in Kentucky.

Preservation Distillery decided to honor this legacy by allowing a single barrel whiskey from an undisclosed Tennessee distillery to mature in Kentucky for seven years, naming it after the pioneer.

The honey-golden whiskey was finally bottled at 47.35% ABV.

On the nose, the alcohol quickly dissipates, giving way to vanilla candies, a lot of toasted grains, a hint of oak charcoal, and dried citrus peels. On the palate, it is initially dominated by toasted grains. Then, a gentle spiciness develops with plenty of oak and hints of powdered sugar. The finish is medium-length with a gentle rye spice transitioning into a stronger honey sweetness. The whiskey can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as a base for upscale cocktails.
