With their in-house Long John's Dew of Ben Nevis, one of the first single malt whiskies produced by the industry entered the market. In 1941, the brand passed into the hands of Canadian distiller Joseph Hobbs. After several changes of ownership, it was acquired by Allied Domecq. Since 2005, Long John has been owned by the French conglomerate Pernod Ricard. France remains one of the brand's most significant export markets to this day.
