MacDonald & Muir took over the operation in 1918 when it was marked by production challenges. In 2004, the distillery was sold to LVMH. Following the principle of the "16 Men of Tain," precisely 16 employees are still involved in the distillation process today. The sources in the Tarlogie Hills provide fresh spring water for production. Glenmorangie is equipped with the tallest stills in Scotland, giving the whisky its particularly mild flavor.
