Even the devastating fire in the late 19th century couldn't discourage the determined managers: it took less than three years until the newly built whisky distillery reopened its doors. The owners of Fettercairn place great importance on independent production. Until the 1960s, they even produced their own malt. In 2015, the distillery underwent a generous expansion. The owners installed three additional fermentation vessels for mashing.
