    The sailing ship was the last of its kind and, during its heyday in the 19th century, the fastest in the world. The distillery's whisky is particularly well-known and popular in the United States; in the 1960s, Cutty Sark was the best-selling Scotch in the States. The Edrington Group acquired the brand in 2010 and sold it in 2018 to the French company La Martiniquaise-Bardinet, which also owns the Glen Moray Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland.
